Mitchell's stepdad Joseph Day Mitchell and mother Josephine Marian Mitchell (nee Jenkins) are attorneys based in Dallas. Mitchell as well as her mom relocated into Dallas Texas, where she married Joseph Mitchell. Mitchell earned her high school diploma at Booker T. Washington High School Performing and Visual Arts, a public magnet school. Mitchell is the third of siblings, including Kristina Kristie Mitchell. Katherine Day Kate Mitchell was born the same year.
